Your patent will allow you use your invention only within the scope of the your country. Your Turkey patent will only protect you against others making, selling, or using your invention within the borders of the Turkey. Therefore, if an inventor demands patent protection outside the Turkey, it has two ways; international patent registration and priority rights. In the case of a national patent application, priority rights should be demanded. An inventor benefits from a right of priority within twelve months as from the date of filing an application for the getting of a patent certification in Turkey otherwise priority rights are considered to be void.(the time-period of twelve months prescribed in paragraph).
There are various ways for patent registration abroad. These are as follows:
1.Individual Application:
Individual applications provide protection through offices of countries accordingly patent regulations and patent law of relevant country.

- OAPI (African Intellectual Property Organization)
- GCC (The Cooperation Council For The Arab States of The Gulf Secretariat General)
- EPC (European Patent Convention)
- EAPO (The Eurasian Patent Organization)
- ARIPO (African Regional Intellectual Property Organization)
a) National Application
National patent the process of the present invention should be registered initially in relevant country by an individual or through office.
The first patent application for a an invention (once validly filed) creates what is known as a "priority right" within twelve months as from the date of filing an application. "Priority Right" if any and the procedures until the registration are carried out pursuant to the code of that country.
b) International Patent Application(PCT)
The Patent Cooperation Treaty(PCT) serves requesters can concurrently aspire patent protection internationally through WIPO in 149 contracting parties from all over the world. Turkey has been party to a treaty since 1996.
PCT application simply provides a streamlined process for the patent application process in many countries at the same time. Applicant can register into various countries within approximately 30 months from the date of filing of PCT application.
c) EPC (European Patent Convention)
European Patent Convention related the registration of European patents, signed in 1977. Turkey has been acceded to the treaty since 2000.
All European member countries contract with a sole application to provide a valid patent protection; therefore EPC accepts a common patent law.
d) Other Regional Patent Applications covers OAPI (African Intellectual Property Organization), GCC (The Cooperation Council For The Arab States of The Gulf Secretariat General), EAPO (The Eurasian Patent Organization), ARIPO (African Regional Intellectual Property Organization)
